Date:

RAWALPINDI — Pakistan held a solemn funeral ceremony on Friday for Major Sibtain Haider, a 30-year-old officer from Quetta who was martyred during an intelligence-based operation in Daraban, Dera Ismail Khan. The operation targeted militants affiliated with the group known as Fitna al-Khawarij, described by officials as an Indian proxy.

The funeral prayer was offered at Chaklala Garrison, attended by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, senior military and civil officials, and members of the public, according to a statement from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Prime Minister Sharif paid tribute to the fallen officer, declaring, “Fitna al-Khawarij or any group with perverted ideologies will not be allowed to succeed. The blood of our martyrs strengthens our commitment to defeat every agent of chaos and safeguard Pakistan’s sovereignty.”

Major Haider will be laid to rest in his hometown with full military honours. His sacrifice has been hailed as a symbol of courage and national resilience, as Pakistan continues its fight against terrorism and cross-border militancy
