Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a decisive stance against rising terrorism in Pakistan, declaring that the time for waiting is over and the country must act now to eradicate this menace completely.
Speaking during a federal cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister recounted recent tragic events, including the funerals of Lt. Colonel Junaid, Major Tayyab, and nine soldiers martyred in Orakzai. He praised Lt. Colonel Junaid’s bravery, who led from the front and eliminated 19 terrorists before embracing martyrdom alongside his comrades.
Shehbaz Sharif shared emotional interactions with the families of the martyrs, who expressed pride in their loved ones’ sacrifices for the nation. “These heroes left behind orphaned children to save millions of others,” he said, emphasizing the gravity of the loss.
He condemned the protection and praise some elements offer to terrorists, stating that foreign-backed extremists continue to attack Pakistan while being glorified by so-called friendly voices. “Our martyrs have drawn a line with their blood — no one will be allowed to cross it,” he declared.
The Prime Minister warned that if terrorism continues unchecked, the efforts of governments, institutions, and the people will be wasted. “From Karachi to Peshawar, the nation is asking: what is happening? We’ve achieved diplomatic and economic victories, but now terrorists are trying to unravel our progress. This fire-and-water game must end,” he said.
On Palestine, Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support, highlighting the country’s role in pushing for a ceasefire and self-determination for Palestinians at the United Nations. He mentioned meetings with President Trump and other Muslim leaders, where Pakistan actively contributed to the 20-point peace plan.
He also praised Pakistan’s humanitarian efforts — sending medical aid, hosting injured Palestinians, and offering education to Gazan children. “Pakistan is among the few Muslim nations that stood firm and acted,” he noted.
Regarding foreign relations, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to China, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia for their continued support. He shared details of a $200 million halal meat agreement signed during his visit to Malaysia and celebrated Bloomberg’s recognition of Pakistan as the second fastest-emerging economy.
Shehbaz Sharif concluded by stating that the sacrifices of martyrs are the pride of the nation. “Forgetting them would be a betrayal. Those who facilitate terrorists are equally guilty. If we fail to act now, neither the nation nor God will forgive us,” he warned.
