Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: More than 200 people have been killed in joint US and Israeli airstrikes across Iran, according to Iranian officials and humanitarian sources, with reports that dozens of schoolgirls were among the victims.
Iran’s state news agency said a primary school for girls was hit during the attacks, triggering widespread shock and condemnation. Officials stated that around 170 students were present at the time of the strike.
Authorities reported that at least 51 people were confirmed dead at the school site alone, with nearly 60 others injured, including students and staff. Rescue operations are ongoing as emergency teams work to clear debris and search for survivors trapped under the rubble. Officials warned that the death toll could rise.
Witnesses said the school was directly targeted in the early morning hours. Medical teams and emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, transferring the wounded to nearby hospitals.
In a broader update, the International Committee of the Red Cross reported that the total number of people killed in US and Israeli bombings across 34 Iranian provinces has exceeded 200.
There was no immediate official statement from Israel regarding the reported strike on the school. However, the Israeli military had earlier advised Iranian civilians to stay away from military installations and strategic sites.
Separately, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed it had targeted 14 US military bases in Gulf countries in retaliation, alleging that hundreds of personnel were killed. These claims have not been independently verified, and there has been no confirmation from US officials.
The escalating confrontation between Iran, the United States, and Israel has heightened fears of a broader Middle East conflict, with global leaders urging restraint amid mounting civilian casualties.
