Peshawar (Web Desk) – A young girl from North Waziristan has captured widespread attention on social media after a video showcasing her impressive bowling skills went viral, leading to her selection for an upcoming cricket league backed by Peshawar Zalmi.
The girl, identified as Aina Wazir from the Shewa tehsil of North Waziristan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, gained recognition after footage of her bowling during a local cricket tournament circulated widely on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The video was initially shared by a social media user, highlighting the young player’s talent and noting that she leads her own team in a children’s tournament. The post also emphasized the lack of opportunities available to talented youth in remote regions despite their potential.
Following the viral response, Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi praised the young cricketer, calling her an exceptionally talented player who deserves the right platform to develop her skills. He later announced that Aina Wazir would be included in the upcoming Zalmi Women League, a move seen as an encouraging step toward promoting grassroots cricket and women’s participation in sports.
The development has drawn positive reactions online, with many users applauding efforts to support emerging talent from underrepresented areas and expand opportunities for young female athletes in Pakistan.
