Five terrorists killed in Balochistan’s Washuk IBO, says ISPR

Date:

Security forces recover weapons, ammunition and explosives during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan, according to the military’s media wing.

WASHUK, Pakistan – Web Desk: Five militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Washuk district of Balochistan, Pakistan’s military media wing said on Thursday, October 15.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces carried out the operation on the night of October 12–13 after receiving intelligence about the presence of suspected militants in the area.

The military said the operation targeted individuals it described as belonging to Fitna al-Hindustan, a designation used by the Pakistani government for terrorist groups operating in Balochistan.

ISPR said security personnel raided a suspected militant hideout and killed five individuals during the operation. A cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives was also recovered, according to the statement.

The claims were attributed to the military. Independent verification of the reported casualties and the circumstances of the operation was not provided in the report.

Weapons and Explosives Recovered

In its statement, ISPR said security forces recovered weapons, ammunition and explosives during the operation.

The military also said sanitisation operations were continuing in the area to search for any other suspected militants.

Such operations are part of Pakistan’s broader counterterrorism efforts in Balochistan, a province that has experienced recurring attacks against security personnel, government installations and civilians.

ISPR said security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue their operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam counterterrorism framework.

Previous Operation Reported in Washuk

The latest operation followed another security operation in Washuk district, which ISPR said had resulted in five militant deaths and four injuries a day earlier.

According to the military’s account, advanced weapons and ammunition were recovered during that earlier operation as well.

The two reported operations highlight continuing security activity in the district. Further details about the individuals killed, the recovered equipment and any subsequent arrests were not provided in the report.

Security Situation in Balochistan

Balochistan has faced a prolonged security challenge involving armed groups, attacks on security personnel and violence affecting civilians.

The federal government has accused India of supporting militant activity in the province. Such allegations should be attributed to Pakistani authorities unless independently established.

Security operations in the province form part of the government’s stated efforts to counter militancy and prevent further attacks.
