Washington, United States – Web Desk: A US Department of Homeland Security assessment has suggested that a possible motive behind an attack attempt targeting former President Donald Trump at a White House dinner was protest against the US–Iran and US–Israel conflict.
According to the Intelligence and Analysis division report submitted to authorities, suspect Cole Allen reportedly had a history of expressing political and social grievances. The report indicates that the ongoing Iran–US conflict may have played a significant role in influencing the attack.
Investigators reviewing his social media activity found posts criticizing US foreign policy decisions and military actions related to the conflict.
Prosecutors told the court that Allen held political opposition toward Trump and had intentions aligned with challenging government policies he believed were incorrect.
The incident took place last month in Washington during a White House dinner for media representatives attended by the former president. Trump was unharmed, while the suspect was detained at the scene.
Allen has since been charged with attempting to assassinate the former US president.
