US Firm Signs MoU with Pakistan to Boost Digital Payments and Financial Innovation

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and World Liberty Financial agree on cross-border digital payment collaboration

A delegation from US-based World Liberty Financial has expressed interest in Pakistan’s secure and transparent digital payments system, signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote financial innovation and cross-border payments.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met the delegation in Islamabad, with Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir also present. Speaking to global investors, the PM highlighted Pakistan’s emergence as a hub for digital finance and emphasized that digital payments are vital for economic growth.

Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and World Liberty Financial’s CEO signed the MoU, aiming to strengthen cooperation in digital payments and the foreign exchange system. Aurangzeb also highlighted Pakistan’s positive economic indicators, including rising private sector credit reaching Rs1.1 trillion, remittances expected to exceed $41 billion, and plans to issue Panda Bonds in China.

The government stressed that controlling population growth is crucial for sustainable development and achieving a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
