Washington, United States – Web Desk: U.S. federal authorities have detained three Iranian-origin individuals on national security concerns over alleged links to the Iranian government, according to officials and media reports.
The action followed an order reportedly issued by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, leading to the cancellation of the suspects’ permanent residency status (green cards). The individuals were subsequently taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The detainees have been identified as Syed Isa Hashmi, Maryam Tahmasbi, and their son, whose identity has not been fully disclosed in available reports.
Authorities stated that deportation proceedings have begun against all three individuals. However, officials have not publicly released detailed allegations or evidence supporting the claims of links to the Iranian government.
The case comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, with increased scrutiny of individuals suspected of foreign government affiliations. Further legal proceedings are expected as the investigation continues.
