Two explosions rock Lakki Marwat: 1 killed, 8 injured

Date:

(Web Desk) – Two separate explosions struck different areas of Lakki Marwat, leaving one person dead and eight others injured, prompting authorities to declare an emergency at the city hospital and launch a search operation for suspects.

According to police, the first explosion occurred when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated on a cement factory bus.

The blast caused severe damage to the vehicle and injured nine people travelling on board, who were immediately shifted to the city hospital for treatment.

One injured dies at hospital

Medical Superintendent Dr. Kifayatullah said one of the injured succumbed to injuries upon arrival at the hospital. He added that a woman is also among the wounded, while the condition of several injured persons remains critical.

Following the blast and the arrival of multiple injured victims, hospital authorities declared an emergency to handle the situation. Medical staff were placed on high alert to provide immediate treatment to those injured in the attack.

Second blast hits Abbasa Khattak area

Police said the second explosion took place in the Abbasa Khattak area, where another IED detonated at a solar tube well. The blast partially damaged the tube well and a nearby house, causing panic among local residents.

According to police, the solar tube well belongs to Humayun Khan, the president of the local peace committee. Officials said Humayun Khan’s house was also targeted in a rocket attack a few days ago, in which he sustained injuries.

Security forces have cordoned off the affected areas and launched a search operation to trace those responsible for the twin explosions.

Police said investigations are ongoing, and further details will be shared as the situation develops.
