Turkey: Paroled Prisoner Kills Mother, Wife, Daughter in Triple Murder

Date:

Ankara, Turkey — Web Desk: A 35-year-old prisoner on temporary parole in Turkey brutally killed his mother, wife, and eight-year-old daughter shortly after his release, authorities reported.

The suspect, identified as Rejeb Cengiz, had been serving a four-year sentence for fraud and armed threats. Due to reportedly good behavior, he was granted a ten-day parole. Upon release, Cengiz immediately returned home, where he carried out the fatal shootings.

Police stated that Cengiz first killed his 57-year-old mother and then fatally shot his young daughter. After placing the bodies in a vehicle, he proceeded to his estranged wife’s family home, where she had been staying to finalize divorce proceedings. He fatally shot his wife before turning the weapon on himself, committing suicide.

Authorities confirmed that all victims’ bodies have been recovered and are in police custody while investigations continue. Forensic and crime scene teams have been deployed to determine the sequence of events and motives behind the attack.

Officials described the incident as a shocking case of familicide, highlighting concerns about parole evaluations and monitoring of high-risk inmates. Despite assurances from prison authorities that Cengiz had shown remorse and responsible behavior during incarceration, his actions following release demonstrated extreme violence.

Turkey has strict parole protocols, but cases like this have sparked debate over the adequacy of monitoring and psychological assessments for prisoners temporarily released. Law enforcement and judicial authorities are reviewing procedures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

The Ankara Police Department continues to lead the investigation, coordinating with forensic experts and prosecutors to compile evidence and provide a full account of the events leading to the deadly incident.
