Washington, United States – Web Desk: The administration of US President Donald Trump is reportedly considering punitive measures against certain NATO member states that did not support Washington during the Iran conflict, according to media reports.
A report by The Wall Street Journal said the proposal under discussion includes withdrawing US troops from allied countries deemed “less supportive” and redeploying them to nations that backed the United States during the crisis.
The plan, still in its early stages, has reportedly gained traction among senior officials within the administration in recent weeks.
The report did not mention South Korea or Japan, despite earlier indications that Washington had sought their assistance in securing maritime routes through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz—a request both countries reportedly declined.
Analysts say the potential move could reshape US military posture in Europe and strain relations within the NATO alliance, which has historically relied on collective defense and cooperation.
The development comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions following the Iran conflict and ongoing efforts to stabilize the region through diplomacy.
