US President Donald Trump on Wednesday warned that the United States could launch further military strikes against Iran, saying the previous night’s operation had been successful and that additional action remained possible.
Ankara, Türkiye – Web Desk: Speaking to reporters during the NATO Summit in Türkiye alongside a meeting with the Ukrainian president, Trump said he was dissatisfied with Iran, accusing Tehran of launching drone attacks on ships.
“We carried out a strong attack on Iran last night, and it is possible we will strike even harder tonight,” Trump said.
The US president also delivered sharp criticism of Iran’s leadership, claiming they had acted as “bullies” in the Middle East for decades. He further alleged that Iran had threatened the international community for years and accused its leadership of supporting violence.
Commenting on efforts to curb Iran’s nuclear programme, Trump said negotiations had faced significant challenges. He described any potential agreement as a barrier to Iran acquiring nuclear weapons but questioned whether a deal would ultimately be reached.
“I don’t know whether there will be an agreement with Iran or not. We will ensure Iran does not become a nuclear power even without a deal, and that would be easier,” he said.
Trump also criticized former US President Barack Obama, describing the previous nuclear agreement with Iran as “the worst deal” and accusing Tehran of misleading negotiators during past diplomatic efforts.
The latest remarks come amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, with regional security and Iran’s nuclear programme remaining key issues on the international agenda.
