Washington-Web Desk : US President Donald Trump has said that a “strong and capable team” has been sent to Islamabad for high-level talks with Iran, as diplomatic efforts intensify to stabilize the region.
Speaking to reporters, Trump confirmed that Vice President J. D. Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and senior adviser Jared Kushner will hold meetings in Islamabad as part of ongoing negotiations.
Trump said the objective of the talks is to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons and to secure a broader regional understanding. He added that the Strait of Hormuz would “soon be fully reopened,” signaling optimism over easing tensions in global energy routes.
The remarks come as an Iranian high-level delegation has already arrived in Islamabad, while the US delegation is also en route for the discussions.
The Islamabad talks are being closely watched internationally as they focus on nuclear non-proliferation, regional security, and de-escalation in the Middle East.
