Washington, United States – Web Desk: US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is directly involved in ongoing negotiations aimed at ending the conflict between the United States and Iran.
In an interview with the New York Post, Trump said Mojtaba Khamenei is actively participating in the peace process and emphasized that there was “no doubt” about his involvement in ceasefire discussions.
The U.S. president also expressed a desire to meet Iran’s top leader, saying both the Iranian public and government respect his decisions. Trump suggested that a future meeting with Mojtaba Khamenei and other key regional leaders could take place depending on how negotiations progress.
When asked about reports regarding Khamenei’s health, Trump said he had never met him personally and could not verify such claims. However, he made a light-hearted reference to unconfirmed media reports suggesting Khamenei had suffered serious injuries.
Trump’s remarks come as diplomatic efforts continue between Washington and Tehran over a potential agreement to end hostilities. In a separate recent interview, Trump also claimed that Iran had agreed in principle not to pursue nuclear weapons, although Iranian authorities have not officially confirmed the assertion.
Mojtaba Khamenei, who assumed Iran’s top leadership role in March, has largely remained out of public view. His written messages have reportedly been delivered through state media broadcasts. Reports from U.S. media and some officials have previously alleged that he was injured during an Israeli airstrike earlier this year, though no independent confirmation has been provided.
