Trump Delays Iran Strike After Pakistan Intervention

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a temporary delay in a potential military strike against Iran, citing a request from Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

In a statement posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump said the decision was made to allow diplomatic efforts to continue until Iran’s leadership presents a unified proposal and meaningful negotiations take place.

The U.S. president claimed that Iran’s government remains internally divided, adding that Washington has instructed its military to hold off on offensive action for now. However, he confirmed that a naval blockade against Iran will remain in place, with U.S. forces maintaining readiness for any escalation.

Trump also announced an extension of the ceasefire, stating it would remain in effect until Iran submits a formal proposal and talks produce tangible outcomes.

Tensions remain high after Iran accused the United States of violating the ceasefire agreement by continuing its blockade and seizing an Iranian vessel. Tehran subsequently refused to participate in a second round of negotiations.

Despite this, Trump expressed confidence that Iranian officials would eventually engage with a U.S. delegation expected to arrive in Pakistan, reportedly led by Vice President JD Vance, for further diplomatic discussions.

Pakistan has been actively facilitating dialogue between Washington and Tehran. Earlier, the first round of ceasefire talks took place in Islamabad approximately 20 days ago under Pakistan’s mediation.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has criticized U.S. actions, calling them a breach of international norms and accusing Washington of lacking seriousness in pursuing diplomacy.

The situation continues to evolve as global attention focuses on whether renewed negotiations can prevent further escalation in the Middle East.
