Trump Declares Gaza Ceasefire a ‘Historic Dawn’ for the Middle East

JERUSALEM — October 13, 2025

U.S. President Donald Trump hailed the Gaza-Israel ceasefire agreement as the beginning of a “new historic era” for the Middle East, declaring an end not only to war, but to terrorism and extremism across the region.

Addressing the Israeli Knesset, President Trump said, “Today marks the end of war, terrorism, and extremism. It is the start of a new age of peace in the Middle East, with Arab and Islamic nations as partners in this journey.”

The President praised the return of 20 surviving Israeli hostages and the remains of 26 others after two years in captivity, calling it a “remarkable achievement” made possible by unprecedented international cooperation. “Future generations will remember this moment as the turning point when everything began to change,” he said.

Trump expressed deep gratitude to Arab and Muslim nations for their role in pressuring Hamas and supporting peace efforts. “We have proven that peace is not just a dream—it is a reality we can build together,” he stated.

During the speech, a member of the Israeli opposition attempted to protest but was swiftly removed by security.

Trump emphasized that the ceasefire was part of a broader transformation. “The guns are silent, and the future looks bright. In just eight months, our administration helped end eight wars. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is on track to become one of the greatest in American history.”

He vowed that October 7 would never be forgotten or repeated, reaffirming America’s unwavering support for Israel. “The painful two-year chapter for both Israelis and Palestinians is over. Now, battlefield victories must be transformed into peace and prosperity for the entire region.”

The President also revealed details of a joint U.S.-Israel operation that successfully targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities. “Our Air Force deployed seven B-2 bombers and over 100 fighter jets, dropping 14 precision bombs to eliminate Iran’s nuclear capabilities,” he said. “Iran was just two months away from acquiring nuclear weapons—we stopped it.”

Trump extended an olive branch to Iran, saying the door to friendship and cooperation remains open. He also highlighted the swift defeat of ISIS in Iraq, achieved in just four weeks, contrary to earlier estimates of four to five years.

Turning to Lebanon, Trump welcomed Hezbollah’s disarmament and praised the Lebanese President’s efforts to bring state control over weapons. “A long and difficult war has ended. Hamas will permanently lay down arms in Gaza. Now is the time to focus on stability, dignity, and economic recovery.”

He commended Arab and Muslim nations for uniting against terrorism, defeating ISIS, and supporting the Gaza ceasefire. “The anti-Israel narrative that persisted for years is shifting. Positive changes are emerging in Lebanon, and we support efforts for responsible governance.”

Looking ahead, Trump said a peace agreement with Iran would be “extraordinary” and reiterated his commitment to rebuilding Gaza. “Peace and recovery for the people of Gaza is our priority. I thank Arab and Muslim nations for their support in reconstruction. I want to be a partner in Gaza’s renewal and will soon meet the leaders who made peace possible.”

The President’s remarks signal a bold new chapter in Middle Eastern diplomacy, with the United States positioning itself at the center of efforts to reshape the region’s future
