Washington, United States – Web Desk: US President Donald Trump has claimed that three American Navy destroyers successfully passed through the Strait of Hormuz despite facing what he described as Iranian missile and drone attacks.
In a statement posted on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said Iranian forces attempted to target US naval vessels, but all incoming missiles and drones were intercepted before reaching their targets.
According to Trump, several small attack boats allegedly launched by Iran were destroyed, while others sank during the confrontation. He stated that US defence systems neutralised missiles in mid-air and shot down drones before they could strike the ships.
The president sharply criticised Iran, saying that “no normal country” would engage in such actions in a major international maritime route. He also claimed that Iran’s leadership is controlled by “extremist-minded elements.”
Trump further warned that the United States would not allow Tehran to acquire nuclear weapons, arguing that Iran would use such capabilities if obtained.
In his statement, Trump said Washington had “knocked out” Iran and warned that even harsher measures could follow if Tehran refused to sign a future agreement.
There has been no immediate official response from Iranian authorities regarding Trump’s claims. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most strategically important energy shipping lanes, frequently at the centre of regional tensions.
