Washington, United States – Web Desk: US President Donald Trump has abruptly cancelled a major concert planned as part of celebrations for the United States’ 250th Independence anniversary, marking a sudden change in the official programme.
In a statement posted on social media, Trump said that some performers were demanding excessively high fees while offering little value to the public. He also criticised certain artists, saying their work did not significantly contribute to addressing public concerns.
The original programme included a large-scale musical concert at the National Mall in Washington as part of a broader 16-day celebration planned by the Trump-supported non-profit organization “Freedom 250” to mark the country’s semiquincentennial.
However, US media reports indicated that several prominent artists had recently declined to perform at the event, raising uncertainty about the concert’s execution.
Following the cancellation, Trump announced that the concert would be replaced with a political rally under the “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) banner, where he is expected to address supporters.
According to the revised plan, the rally will be held on June 24 and is expected to reshape the format of the upcoming Independence anniversary celebrations, shifting focus from entertainment to a political gathering.
