Transporters stage protest against customs officials in Karachi

Date:

(Web Desk) – Transporters staged a protest demonstration against customs officials on Northern Bypass in Karachi, suspending traffic on Saturday.

According to report, due to the six hours sit-in, long queues of vehicles formed on the highway.

Transporters accused customs officials of firing and vandalism due to which four people were injured and they were shifted to hospital last night.

The transporter further alleged that the customs officials damaged two dozen vehicles breaking wind screens.

During a discussion on a small issue, bad words were used against the transporters, they alleged.

They further said suddenly, the customs officials were ordered and they opened fire, used clubs and batons.

Traffic has been blocked for six hours and the transporters threatened that after one hour, they will close superhighway as well.

A case should be registered against those responsible immediately, otherwise the protest will not end, transporters warned.

According to rescue sources, one person was reported injured in the firing at night.
