Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: The accused in the murder case of TikToker Sana Yousuf – who was killed inside her own home in Islamabad – has denied all charges, as the case enters its final stages.
During a hearing at the Islamabad District and Sessions Court before Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka, suspect Omar Hayat’s statement was recorded under Section 342 of the criminal procedure code.
At the outset of the hearing, the accused refused to respond without his lawyer present. However, the court clarified that a Section 342 statement is a direct exchange between the judge and the accused.
The judge asked multiple questions related to the murder, mobile phone theft, the rented vehicle used, location data, identification parade, and alleged confession. In response, Omar Hayat rejected all accusations, calling the case “false” and “planted.”
The accused stated that he had never confessed to killing Sana Yousuf nor made any disclosure about the crime. “I had no contact with Sana Yousuf,” he claimed.
When the judge noted that during the investigation, a contact labeled “Kaka” was found on Sana’s phone, and mobile forensics linked that number to Omar Hayat, the accused again refused to answer without his lawyer.
The judge directly asked: “Did you go to Sana Yousuf’s house to kill her, fire two shots into her chest, take her mobile phone, and flee?” Omar Hayat responded that he was arrested on mere suspicion, alleging that police tortured him, forced him to put thumbprints on blank papers, and implicated him due to social media pressure.
During the hearing, a heated exchange also occurred between the judge and the defense lawyer over unauthorized video recording inside the courtroom.
After recording the accused’s statement, the court adjourned the hearing until Tuesday, when a verdict is expected to be reserved.
It may be recalled that Sana Yousuf, a TikToker, was shot dead inside her Islamabad home in June of last year. The accused fled to Faisalabad after the murder, where he was later arrested. Omar Hayat, also known as Kaka, is himself a TikToker and had previously described himself as a friend of the victim.
