Three Militants Killed in Balochistan Intelligence-Based Operation
QUETTA, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: Pakistani security forces killed three militants during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Awaran district, according to security sources, as counterterrorism operations continue across the province.
The operation was conducted in the Badrang area of Awaran district under what authorities describe as Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3, according to Express Urdu and other Pakistani media reports citing security sources.
Security sources said three militants were killed during the intelligence-based operation. Express Urdu reported that the deceased were described by authorities as belonging to “Fitna al-Hindustan,” a terminology used by the Pakistani state for Balochistan-based militant groups that it alleges receive Indian backing.
A large quantity of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the militants, according to the security sources. Details about the exact type and quantity of the recovered weapons were not provided in the initial reports.
The operation comes amid an intensified security campaign across Balochistan. Earlier this month, the military said 48 militants were killed during multiple counterterrorism operations across the province over a 72-hour period.
On September 9, the military also reported that 11 militants were killed in separate operations in Kharan and Washuk districts, with 2.9 tonnes of explosive material recovered from a hideout in Washuk.
Separately, three militants, including a commander identified by security sources as Naqeeb, were reported killed during an operation in Mastung district on September 14.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised security forces following the latest Awaran operation and said the country stood with security personnel in efforts against terrorism.
Security sources said operations would continue as authorities seek to restore security and eliminate militant threats in Balochistan.
The casualty figures, militant affiliations and circumstances of the latest operation are based primarily on accounts provided by Pakistani security sources. No independently verified account of the Awaran operation was available in the reporting reviewed.
