Ahmedabad, India – Web Desk: In a dramatic T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 match at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd stitched a record 8th-wicket partnership of 89 runs to rescue West Indies after a shaky start against South Africa.
South Africa won the toss and elected to field first, putting early pressure on the West Indies batting lineup. Despite a strong opening in the first two overs, wickets fell intermittently, leaving West Indies struggling at 83/7 in 10.2 overs.
Holder scored 49 runs before being run out in the final over, while Shepherd remained unbeaten on 52, marking his maiden T20 International half-century. Together, their partnership propelled West Indies to a competitive total of 176/8 in 20 overs.
