(Web Desk) – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi said on Saturday that the decision on Pakistan’s participation in the forthcoming T20 World Cup rests with the government.
Speaking at a press conference, Naqvi said no country can dictate terms to another. He said once the International Cricket Council (ICC) decision comes, the PCB has all plans in place. Pakistan has its own stance and will stand by it, he added. Whether Pakistan plays in the World Cup or not will be decided by the government.
Naqvi said players had not contacted the board regarding the fraud matter. He added that a decision would be taken once the players brief the PCB.
He said the board is waiting for the Prime Minister’s return to the country. He added that decisions taken by any one country should not affect others, and said Bangladesh is being treated unfairly. Bangladesh, he said, must be part of the World Cup in all circumstances.
Naqvi said the PCB’s decision would be in line with the government’s decision. He added that the board remains answerable to the government beyond the ICC. He said work is under way with the Punjab government to improve grounds, and that stadium facilities will be upgraded.
