Suspected Monkeypox Case Reported in Karachi

Karachi — A suspected case of monkeypox has emerged in Karachi, involving a 13-year-old boy who recently returned from Saudi Arabia. According to Dr. Waheed Rajput, Medical Superintendent at the Sindh Institute of Infectious Diseases, the child exhibited symptoms resembling monkeypox, including high fever and skin lesions.

The patient has been shifted to the NIHPA Institute’s isolation ward for further observation. His samples have been sent to Dow University’s laboratory, and confirmation will follow upon receipt of test results.

Hospital authorities are monitoring the situation closely, while health officials urge the public to remain cautious and report any similar symptoms promptly.
