Overloaded straw-laden truck overturns on Melo Wal–Dhoori Road due to overspeeding
SARGODHA: At least four people were killed and eight others injured after a high-speed truck carrying straw overturned on the Melo Wal–Dhoori Road in Sargodha on Tuesday.
According to Rescue 1122, the truck was overloaded with straw and carrying 12 laborers when it lost control due to overspeeding and overturned. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, provided first aid, and shifted the injured to the THQ Hospital for medical treatment.
The deceased were identified as Muhammad Ali, Muhammad Adil, Ali, and Muhammad Amjad. Police took custody of the bodies and initiated legal formalities.
Rescue officials said preliminary investigations suggest overspeeding as the main cause of the accident, while police have launched further inquiries to determine additional factors.
Road accidents caused by speeding and overloading continue to pose a serious safety threat in rural Punjab, raising concerns over transport regulations and enforcement.
