Sindh Launches Pink Scooter Training for Women’s Freedom

Date:

KARACHI: The Sindh government has launched a scooter training program for women, aimed at promoting safe and independent mobility across the province.

According to Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, the program has already begun in Karachi’s Korangi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Malir areas. Women applying under the “Pink Scooter Scheme” in all districts of Karachi are encouraged to participate in the training, minister said.

The initiative started in Hyderabad on December 18, and similar programs will soon be rolled out in other Sindh cities including Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Mirpurkhas. The training is designed to ensure safe riding practices while enabling women to move around freely and confidently.

Sharjeel Inam Memon emphasized that women’s empowerment is not limited to economic independence but also involves social freedom. He stated that without safe and accessible transport, women cannot achieve practical autonomy. The scooter training program aims to enhance women’s self-confidence, independence, and practical freedom.

The scheme is open to both students and working women. Interested participants can apply and find further details on the official website: smta.sindh.gov.pk.
