KARACHI: The Acting Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, Mr. Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput, visited the Sindh Forensic DNA and Serology Laboratory (SFDL) at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi.
The Acting Chief Justice was warmly received by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, Director ICCBS, and Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman, Professor Emeritus and former Federal Minister for Science and Technology, along with other senior ICCBS officials.
During the visit, the Acting Chief Justice held a meeting with the ICCBS administration, attended by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman, Prof. Dr. Syed Abid Ali, and Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan, In-charge and Project Director of SFDL, among others.
Prof. Dr. Raza Shah delivered a comprehensive briefing on the diverse scientific and research initiatives being undertaken at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences. He highlighted the remarkable journey of the Center, tracing its growth from a single-room laboratory to a center of excellence of international stature.
Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan presented a detailed account of the progress and achievements of the Sindh Forensic DNA and Serology Laboratory, emphasizing that the state-of-the-art facility was established to assist police and prosecution departments in criminal investigations and trials through advanced scientific techniques. He also outlined the extensive training programs organized by the SFDL for judges, prosecutors, investigating officers, medico-legal officers, and personnel from various law enforcement agencies.
Expressing his satisfaction with the performance of SFDL, the Acting Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court appreciated the ICCBS administration for managing the laboratory efficiently and assured them of his full support in its ongoing and future initiatives.
