Hyderabad: On the directives of the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Sindh on Human Rights, the Human Rights Department, Government of Sindh, through its Directorate of Human Rights, has established a Human Rights Resource Centre (HRRC) at the Divisional Headquarters, Hyderabad. This model initiative marks a significant step towards strengthening coordination and partnership between Government and Civil Society for the promotion and protection of human rights.
The Human Rights Resource Centre will serve as a one-stop platform for registration and record-keeping of NGOs, INGOs, CBOs, and UC-level bodies engaged in human rights work, coordination and facilitation between Government and non-governmental stakeholders, ollaborative efforts in awareness campaigns and the Human Rights Defenders Program, ensuring transparency, accessibility, and effective engagement in line with provincial and international human rights commitments.
The Centre shall be jointly managed by a Government Focal Person nominated by the Directorate of Human Rights, and an NGO Focal Person, nominated from a leading civil society organisation, thereby ensuring effective collaboration and shared ownership. The Directorate will provide necessary office space and administrative support.
On this occasion Director Human Rights Agha Fakhur Hussain emphasized that Hyderabad’s Resource Centre would act as a model project, to be replicated in all divisional headquarters including Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Sukkur in subsequent phases.
