Revised school timings take immediate effect as Sindh continues a five-day academic week.
Web Desk: The Sindh government has reduced school operating hours by one hour across the province, with the revised timings taking immediate effect, according to a notification issued by the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department.
Schools across Sindh will continue to operate five days a week, with teaching activities scheduled from Monday to Friday. The new timings will remain in force until further orders.
Revised timings take immediate effect
The provincial government has directed heads of educational institutions and field officers to ensure implementation of the revised school schedule.
The decision reduces the daily operating hours by one hour while maintaining the five-day academic week introduced after Saturday was restored as a weekly holiday.
Five-day school week continues
The Sindh government had earlier restored Saturday as a weekly holiday for educational institutions across the province.
Following that decision, teaching activities were shifted to Monday through Friday. The education department had said teaching hours would initially be extended by one hour to compensate for the reduction in the number of working days and help complete the curriculum.
The latest notification now reduces the operating hours by one hour while retaining the five-day school week.
Implementation across Sindh
Educational institution heads and relevant field officers have been instructed to implement the revised timings immediately.
The Sindh School Education and Literacy Department’s official notifications page confirms that the department has issued several province-wide directives concerning school operations during 2026.
