Karachi: A delegation from an electric car manufacturing company met with Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon at the Sindh Secretariat to discuss electric vehicle (EV) initiatives. Provincial Minister for Labor and Social Protection Saeed Ghani also attended the meeting.
The delegation provided a comprehensive briefing on their EV models, local assembly operations, and plans for expanding charging infrastructure across the province. They also explored potential areas of collaboration with the Sindh government to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility.
Speaking at the occasion, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon reaffirmed the Sindh government’s commitment—under the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari—to delivering modern, eco-friendly, and affordable transport solutions. “We aim to launch an electric taxi service as soon as possible so that citizens can benefit from cleaner and more efficient travel options,” he said. “Electric vehicles will help conserve fuel and reduce environmental pollution.”
He added that the government is working closely with the private sector to develop comprehensive public transport strategies. “EV technology will not only generate new employment opportunities but also foster innovation and attract investment in the industrial sector,” Memon noted.
The minister emphasized that promoting electric vehicles is a key component of Sindh’s sustainable development agenda, and the province is determined to lead the way in green mobility.
