Sindh cabinet approves judicial commission to probe Mir Raza case

Date:

The commission will investigate the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death under the Sindh Tribunals of Inquiry Ordinance, 1969.

WEB DESK: The Sindh Cabinet has approved the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the death of Mir Raza, according to sources.

The decision was approved through circulation among members of the Sindh Cabinet, sources said.

Judicial commission to investigate Mir Raza’s death

According to sources, the investigation into Mir Raza’s death will be conducted under the leadership of a serving judge of the Sindh High Court.

The Sindh government is expected to request the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court to nominate a serving judge to head the commission.

However, the name of the judge has not yet been officially announced.

Commission to be formed under 1969 ordinance

Sources said the judicial commission will be constituted under Section 3 of the Sindh Tribunals of Inquiry Ordinance, 1969.

The Terms of Reference (ToRs) for the investigation have also been approved, according to the sources.

The commission will examine the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death and conduct its proceedings according to the mandate assigned by the Sindh government.

Judge’s nomination awaited

The next major step will be the nomination of a serving Sindh High Court judge to head the commission.

The Sindh government is expected to formally approach the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court regarding the nomination.

Once the judge is nominated and the commission is formally constituted, the judicial inquiry can proceed according to its approved Terms of Reference.

Investigation to determine facts

The formation of the judicial commission is intended to provide a formal legal mechanism for investigating the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death.

As the inquiry has not yet begun, its findings and conclusions cannot be determined at this stage.

Any allegations or claims surrounding the case should therefore be treated separately from the eventual findings of the judicial commission.
