Sharjeel Memon Moves NCCIA Over Mir Raza Ali Case

Date:

Sindh minister seeks action over social media allegations linking him and his son to the murder investigation.

KARACHI, Pakistan – Web Desk: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has approached the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), seeking action over what he described as malicious and false propaganda circulating on social media in connection with the death of businessman Mir Raza Ali.

Memon submitted a complaint to the NCCIA Karachi Zone, alleging that several social media accounts were spreading fabricated claims involving him and his son, Rawal Memon.

According to the complaint, the posts and videos allegedly sought to link Memon and his son with the murder investigation and were intended to damage their reputations.

The minister has denied the allegations and urged the cybercrime authorities to investigate the accounts involved and take action under the relevant laws.

The complaint comes as investigators continue probing the circumstances surrounding Ali’s death, which has attracted significant public attention in Karachi.

Allegations circulate on social media

According to the complaint, some social media posts alleged a connection between Memon’s family and a guesthouse in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area that has emerged during the police investigation.

Memon rejected the claims as baseless and said the circulation of unverified allegations was an attempt to malign him and his son.

The complaint reportedly asks the NCCIA to identify those behind the alleged campaign and determine whether the content amounts to a violation of cybercrime laws.

Investigation into Mir Raza Ali’s death continues

Ali, an IBA graduate and businessman, was found dead in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area after being reported missing on July 28.

His family has rejected the possibility of suicide and called for a thorough investigation into his death.

Police have continued questioning people as part of the investigation. A second post-mortem examination was also conducted after Ali’s body was exhumed.

Investigators are examining forensic evidence and other material as they attempt to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.

The case has also prompted calls for transparency, with authorities considering different mechanisms to ensure a credible investigation.
