Lahore, Pakistan – Web Desk: Shan Masood likely to lead Pakistan; Rizwan, Saud fit for selection
Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood is expected to retain the captaincy for the upcoming tours of the West Indies and England, while Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel have recovered from fitness concerns and are available for selection.
According to sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has concluded its red-ball pre-season training camp in Lahore, with the squad for both Test series expected to be announced on July 6 or 7 through an official press conference.
Sources said Rizwan and Saud Shakeel have successfully overcome their fitness issues and are now back in contention for selection.
The report further suggests that the squad will feature one or two changes, with selectors likely to include a larger pool of fast bowlers considering the pace-friendly conditions expected in the West Indies and England.
Among the spinners, Sajid Khan remains an automatic selection, while Ali Usman is also under consideration. Young batters Abdullah Fazal and Azan Awais are expected to receive opportunities in the touring squad.
The Pakistan team’s final training camp is scheduled to be held in Islamabad from July 9 to July 12, before the squad departs for the West Indies on July 13.
