Seven terrorists killed, one policeman martyred in Bannu operation

BANNU (Web Desk) – During a joint operation conducted by the police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), seven terrorists were killed in Bannu, on Thursday.

As per details, a fierce gun battle erupted between police and terrorists in the Mamandkhel area under the jurisdiction of Cantonment Police Station in Bannu. The operation resulted in the deaths of seven militants, while one police officer embraced martyrdom.

According to the District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu the terrorists ambushed the security forces, prompting a swift retaliatory response in which all seven militants were killed.

During the exchange of fire, one police officer, identified as Abid Khan, embraced martyrdom, while ten other policemen sustained injuries. Additionally, four civilians were wounded after coming under crossfire.

The wounded policemen and civilians were hurried to the District Headquarters Hospital in Bannu cityThe injured policemen included DSP Malik Ihsan and constables Irshad, Anwarullah, Ishaq, Baseer, Hazrat Ali, Sajjad Ali, Asmatullah, Wahidullah and Abdul Samad.

Four civilians who were also wounded in the gunfight were identified as Hussainur Rehman, Muzammil Khan, Lajbaar Khan and Wahaj.

The funeral prayers of the martyred officer were held with full state honors at Police Lines Bannu, attended by senior police and government officials. Following the operation, law enforcement agencies have tightened security across the region and intensified search operations to locate any remaining facilitators of the terrorists.

Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating terrorism from the region and ensuring the safety of the citizens.
