Seven Suspected TTP Militants Killed in Kharan Operation, Security Forces Say

QUETTA, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: Pakistani security forces killed seven suspected members of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Kharan district, according to security officials cited by local media.

The operation was carried out in the Lajay area of Kharan after intelligence was received about the presence of suspected militants, officials said.

Security sources said seven TTP members were killed during the operation and several others were injured.

The casualty figures and identities of those killed could not be independently verified from the information provided.

Weapons and vehicles recovered

Security officials said forces recovered a large cache of weapons, ammunition and other equipment from suspected militant hideouts during the operation.

Two vehicles and a motorcycle allegedly being used by the group were also seized, while the hideouts were destroyed, according to the official account.

Authorities alleged that those targeted in the operation had been involved in a range of violent and criminal activities in Kharan, particularly in the Lajay area.

These allegedly included extortion, kidnapping for ransom, targeted killings and planning attacks.

Security forces said intelligence-led and targeted operations were continuing across Balochistan as part of broader counterterrorism efforts.

President Zardari praises security forces

President Asif Ali Zardari praised the forces involved in the Kharan operation, describing the dismantling of suspected militant hideouts and recovery of weapons and ammunition as a significant achievement.

He said counterterrorism operations were essential for protecting national security and reiterated support for Pakistan’s security forces.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also praised personnel involved in the operation and said counterterrorism efforts would continue.

The government maintains that sustained intelligence-based operations are necessary to dismantle militant networks operating across the country.

Suspected TTP operative arrested in Karachi

Separately, Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and the Counter Terrorism Department said they arrested a suspected TTP-linked operative during an intelligence-based operation in Karachi.

The suspect, identified by authorities as Shahzad alias Dunger, was detained in the Jacob Lines area of Jamshed Town, according to a Rangers spokesperson.

Authorities alleged that Shahzad was linked to the TTP’s Mansoor group and had joined the organisation in 2025.

Investigators claim he had been tasked with collecting funds in Karachi and transferring money to individuals linked to the group in Waziristan.

The allegations have not been tested in court, and the suspect’s response to them was not immediately available.

Weapons and explosives allegedly recovered

Rangers said weapons and explosives were recovered during the Karachi operation.

According to the official account, the suspect had travelled to Waziristan several times and allegedly met a TTP figure identified as Mansoor.

Authorities further alleged that he had been instructed to expand a network in Karachi for militant and extortion activities and later received weapons and explosives through an associate.

Rangers claimed the suspect and his associates were planning attacks against sensitive locations in Karachi.

Security personnel said further raids were under way to locate and arrest alleged associates.

The Karachi arrest and Kharan operation come amid continuing counterterrorism activity across Pakistan, with authorities seeking to disrupt militant networks, financing channels and planned attacks.
