Security Forces Kill Militant Near Pakistan-Iran Border in Kech
QUETTA, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: Pakistani security forces killed one suspected militant during an operation in the Mazaband Range of Kech district, Balochistan, after detecting movement near the Pakistan-Iran border, security sources said on Friday.
Forces received intelligence about the movement of suspected militants near the international border and subsequently launched an operation in the area.
The sources said security personnel responded promptly and prevented the militants from allegedly escaping into Iran, killing one during the operation.

Another operation near Kalat on September 18-19 resulted in six militants being killed and 23 abducted people being rescued, according to an ISPR statement reported by The Express Tribune.
The latest Kech incident should, however, be treated as a separate operation rather than combining the casualty figures from those earlier actions.

The latest operation comes during a period of heightened security across Balochistan.
The provincial government has imposed Section 144 throughout Balochistan for 30 days, citing information about potential activities and gatherings that could affect public safety and law and order. Separately, tensions have risen along the Pakistan-Afghanistan frontier in Balochistan.
Pakistani authorities said Afghan Taliban personnel attempted to enter Pakistani territory in the Gulistan sector on Thursday and carry out what state media described as an act of aggression. Pakistani forces responded, with officials claiming several Afghan Taliban fighters were killed.
That border confrontation is distinct from Friday’s reported counterterrorism operation in Kech near the Pakistan-Iran frontier.
