Islamabad, Pakistan — Web Desk: The Supreme Court has once again forwarded Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) memorandum regarding access to detained party leader Imran Khan to the relevant administrative authorities for consideration.
According to an official statement, PTI parliamentarians had staged a gathering outside the Supreme Court on January 30, where the registrar met party representatives. PTI lawyer Salman Akram Raja was also allowed to meet the Chief Justice and raised concerns about family access and medical consultations for the detained leader.
The court clarified that the matter was administrative in nature and not linked to any pending case, and therefore it was referred to the concerned authorities in line with legal procedure. The gathering later dispersed peacefully.
On February 6, the opposition leadership, including leaders of the opposition in the Senate and National Assembly, again approached the Supreme Court and submitted a signed memorandum, reiterating concerns over access and medical reports. The registrar formally received the memorandum and forwarded it to relevant officials.
The Supreme Court also announced that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have been issued for handling such matters in the future, ensuring institutional dignity, protection of judicial work, rights of litigants, access facilitation, and emergency medical support.
