Colombo, Sri Lanka — Web Desk: Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha expressed confidence ahead of the high-profile T20 clash against India, saying his team is fully prepared for all scenarios, including potential rain interruptions and reduced overs.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference in Colombo, Agha described the contest as a “big-level match” and said the squad has prepared thoroughly. “We are ready and will try to perform well,” he said, adding that familiarity with conditions would not matter unless the team played quality cricket.
Agha backed spinner Usman Tariq as a key weapon against India, calling him the team’s “trump card.” He dismissed concerns about Tariq’s bowling action, noting that the spinner has already been cleared twice and questioning why the issue continues to be raised.
The Pakistan captain acknowledged that spin bowling is likely to play an important role in the match but stressed that the team also has strong fast-bowling options. “There are spinners, but there are also fast bowlers. We can use them,” he said, highlighting Pakistan’s bowling depth.
With rain forecast in Colombo, Agha said the team is ready for all contingencies. “We can’t control the rain. If the overs are reduced, the plan is also ready,” he said, adding that Pakistan came prepared for every possible situation.
He emphasized that all 15 squad members are important and said the final playing XI will depend on strategy and conditions. When asked about India’s team combination, Agha said Pakistan remains focused on its own preparations.
Agha also called for the match to be played in the same sporting spirit as previous encounters and expressed hope that India’s Abhishek Sharma recovers from injury in time to feature in the game.
