Russian President Vladimir Putin defends Pakistan ties at forum event

Date:

St. Petersburg, Russia – Web Desk: Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed a negative assertion about Pakistan during an interaction with an Indian journalist at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, stating that it is incorrect to describe Pakistan as being under China’s influence.

Responding to a question, Putin emphasized that Pakistan is a major regional power with independent and diverse foreign relations. He noted that the country maintains ties with multiple nations and should not be viewed through a narrow geopolitical lens.

The Russian president also highlighted ongoing military cooperation between Russia and China, saying such collaboration would continue in the future.

In response to a separate question on Iran, Putin said Russia maintains a relationship of trust with Iran and could play a constructive role in resolving regional crises.

On the Ukraine conflict, he claimed Russian forces had recently taken control of approximately 2,440 square kilometers of territory, while reiterating Moscow’s openness to a peaceful resolution with Kyiv.

The exchange drew attention amid ongoing global discussions on shifting alliances and geopolitical tensions involving major world powers.
