Russia Says Afghanistan Has Become Hub of Terror Recruitment

Date:

Web Desk – International News Report: Russian intelligence services have stated that Afghanistan has become a hub for terrorist recruitment and the spread of extremism, according to reports cited by Russian media.

The report claims that the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) is actively recruiting individuals from Central Asian countries, including Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, as well as Russian workers, to join militant networks.

It further alleges that ISKP is developing underground militant cells and planning attacks across Central Asia. According to the report, several suspected militants linked to the group have already been arrested in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The secretary of Russia’s Security Council warned that fighters from more than 20 militant groups operating in Afghanistan pose a regional security threat.

Pakistan has repeatedly raised concerns over the presence of militant networks operating from Afghan territory. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has also stated that regional and international terrorist groups are using Afghanistan as a base of operations, calling it a safe haven for extremists.
