Richard Osman Confirms Netflix’s ‘We Solve Murders’ Series Is Still in Development
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — WEB DESK: British author and television presenter Richard Osman has confirmed that Netflix is continuing to work on a series adaptation of his bestselling mystery novel We Solve Murders, offering a positive update on the project while keeping its production details under wraps.
Osman discussed the adaptation during an appearance on the BBC’s The One Show. Asked whether the planned Netflix series was still moving forward, he initially remained guarded but then confirmed that the project was what he and the streaming company were currently working on.

Netflix Acquired Rights Before Novel’s Release
Netflix acquired the screen rights to We Solve Murders before the novel was published in September 2024.
Osman had revealed the deal during an appearance on ITV’s This Morning in February 2024, months before readers were introduced to the new mystery series.
The novel centres on Amy Wheeler, a private security professional assigned to protect bestselling author Rosie D’Antonio on a remote island.
After a body and a bag of money are discovered, Amy turns to her retired detective father-in-law, Steve Wheeler, for help. Together, they attempt to uncover the identity of the killer while navigating an increasingly dangerous investigation.
The story launched a new mystery franchise for Osman following the enormous popularity of his Thursday Murder Club novels.
Another Osman-Netflix Collaboration
The We Solve Murders project would extend Osman’s relationship with Netflix.
His debut novel, The Thursday Murder Club, was previously adapted into a Netflix film released in 2025. The confirmation that We Solve Murders remains in development indicates that the streamer is continuing its relationship with the author’s mystery fiction.
However, the latest comments should be treated as a development update rather than a formal production announcement. Osman confirmed that work is continuing, but neither he nor Netflix announced a cast, filming start date, episode count or premiere window.
‘We Chase Shadows’ Arrives September 15
The update comes shortly before the release of We Chase Shadows, the second book in the We Solve Murders series.
Publisher Penguin Random House lists the sequel for release on September 15, 2026. The new mystery reunites Amy, Rosie and Steve for another investigation, this time involving a body discovered at a private villa in the Italian hills.
The timing gives the franchise fresh momentum across both publishing and streaming.
For now, fans know that Netflix’s adaptation has not been abandoned and remains in development. The next major milestones will be confirmation of the creative team, casting, filming schedule and eventual release date.
