ISLAMABAD – Web Desk: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers from Punjab, including the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, have reportedly asked the party leadership to postpone the planned September 27 long march, citing inadequate preparations.
A PTI meeting was held at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad on Thursday, attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and PTI leader Salman Akram Raja.
Punjab members raise concerns
According to sources, the meeting was convened specifically following demands from PTI members from Punjab.
The participants discussed preparations for the proposed long march. During the meeting, the Punjab opposition leader and other party members reportedly requested that the September 27 protest be postponed.
The members argued that preparations for the long march were not sufficient, according to sources.
Complaints over lack of consultation
PTI leaders from Punjab also reportedly complained that they had not been consulted before the announcement of the long march.
They further said that Punjab members were not given adequate opportunity to present their views during a previous meeting held in Peshawar.
The concerns come as the party works on its plans for the September 27 political mobilisation.

PTI Punjab spokesperson Dr Ali Imran said that members of Parliament had informed the party that proper consultation had not taken place.
He said Punjab ticket holders had been invited to discuss and advance the plan for September 27.
The latest meeting reflects differences among some PTI Punjab members over the timing and preparedness of the planned long march. However, the party leadership has not been reported as having formally postponed the September 27 plan in the information available here.
Any final decision regarding the schedule is expected from the PTI leadership.
