PTI Founder Health Case: SC Challenge Over Medical Board

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: A legal challenge has been filed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan against the Islamabad High Court’s decision regarding the formation of a medical board for the treatment and hospital transfer of the PTI founder.

According to the petition, the Islamabad High Court had directed the formation of a medical board and made any hospital transfer conditional upon its report.

The appeal has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking suspension of the High Court’s order and requesting immediate transfer of the PTI founder to Shifa International Hospital, along with permission for consultation with personal physicians.

Petitioner Azma Khan has challenged the High Court ruling, arguing that the court did not properly consider the facts and instead ordered the formation of a medical board rather than ensuring immediate medical treatment.

The petition further states that the High Court’s decision was not meaningful and overlooked previous judicial directives regarding medical care and treatment facilities.

It also argues that the petitioner was not a party in the Islamabad High Court proceedings but is an affected stakeholder in the matter.

The appeal requests the Supreme Court to declare the High Court’s decision null and void and issue directions for hospital transfer and access to private medical practitioners.

The case adds to ongoing legal proceedings concerning the PTI founder’s detention, health concerns, and access to medical care.
