Mahmood Khan Achakzai-led delegation visits Sindh to mobilize support for Feb 8 protest
The Tehreek Tahaffuz Aain Pakistan (PTAP) has officially launched a three-day political tour of Sindh, aimed at mobilizing public and political support ahead of the nationwide protest scheduled for February 8.
According to PTAP officials, the delegation is being led by Mahmood Khan Achakzai, with prominent opposition leaders Allama Raja Nasir Abbas and former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser also part of the visit. The tour marks a significant step in the alliance’s efforts to intensify its movement for what it describes as the protection of Pakistan’s Constitution and democratic norms.
The PTAP leadership stated that the Sindh visit is part of broader preparations for the February 8 protests, which are expected to be held across major cities of the country. During the tour, the delegation will visit Karachi and several interior Sindh districts, engaging with political parties, legal bodies, civil society organizations, and grassroots supporters.
As part of the itinerary, opposition leaders are scheduled to address a public rally organized by the Sindh United Party, where they are expected to outline PTAP’s demands and criticize what they describe as constitutional violations and political marginalization. The delegation will also deliver a key address at the Karachi Bar Association, highlighting the legal and constitutional dimensions of their movement.
In addition to public gatherings, PTAP leaders will hold meetings with political, social, and professional groups, aiming to build consensus and strengthen coordination ahead of the upcoming protest campaign. Direct engagement with the public and media interactions are also included in the tour agenda.
PTAP has emphasized that its movement is peaceful and constitutionally driven, focusing on the rule of law, democratic continuity, and the protection of fundamental rights. Party leaders believe Sindh plays a crucial role in shaping national political discourse and have termed the province a “key pillar” in the success of the February 8 mobilization.
The three-day tour is being closely watched by political observers, as it signals growing coordination among opposition forces amid an already charged political environment in Pakistan.
