Britain’s Prince Harry and six other high-profile claimants have lost a privacy lawsuit against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), the publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, following a ruling by the London High Court.
London, United Kingdom – Web Desk: According to international media reports, Prince Harry and the other claimants alleged that Associated Newspapers illegally obtained their private information between 1990 and 2018 through unlawful methods.
The other claimants included Sir Elton John, David Furnish, Sir Simon Hughes, Elizabeth Hurley, Sadie Frost, and Baroness Doreen Lawrence. The allegations included unlawful access to mobile phones and voicemail messages, covert surveillance, and attempts to obtain confidential medical and financial records.
Associated Newspapers strongly denied the allegations, maintaining that it did not engage in any unlawful information-gathering practices.
The case was widely regarded as a significant legal battle over the balance between press freedom and the right to privacy in the United Kingdom.
Prince Harry has previously won legal claims against Mirror Group Newspapers over unlawful information gathering and publication practices. Last year, the publisher of The Sun also apologised to the Duke of Sussex and offered financial compensation in a separate legal dispute.
Prince Harry has repeatedly said that years of tabloid media intrusion have had a profound impact on his private life, family and mental health.
