ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday welcomed the announcement of a landmark agreement aimed at ending the genocide in Gaza, calling it a “historic opportunity” to establish lasting peace in the Middle East.
In a statement shared on his official X account, the prime minister praised President Donald Trump’s leadership in facilitating dialogue and negotiations, describing it as a reflection of his “unwavering commitment to world peace.”
He also commended the efforts of Qatar, Egypt, and Turkiye, acknowledging their “resolute and wise leadership” in helping broker the deal.
“We must pay tribute to the Palestinian people who have suffered in an unprecedented manner, one that should never, ever be repeated,” the prime minister said.
Expressing concern over recent provocations at Masjid Al Aqsa, Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the actions of occupiers and illegal settlers, urging the international community to hold them accountable and prevent further escalation.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working with global partners and leaders of brotherly nations to ensure peace, security, and dignity for the Palestinian people, in line with their aspirations and relevant UN resolutions.
