PM Shehbaz Sharif Congratulates Pakistan Football Team on Historic Diamond Jubilee Tournament Win

ISLAMABAD – Web Desk: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated the Pakistan football team on winning the 2026 Diamond Jubilee International Football Tournament held in the Maldives, according to a message on X.

The Prime Minister stated that the magnificent victory against Afghanistan in the final has brought joy and pride to the entire nation, and he prayed for more successes for the national team in the future. Pakistan defeated Afghanistan 2-0 in the final of the four-nation tournament to clinch the title, remaining undefeated throughout the event.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also congratulated the team, stating that the Green Shirts have made the entire nation proud by defeating Afghanistan in the final. He said the players created history by displaying excellent play and extraordinary spirit on the field. Winning the first international football title after a long time marks the beginning of a new era for Pakistan football, he added. The victory is being hailed as a significant milestone for Pakistan football, expected to boost efforts for the sport’s promotion and revival in the country.
