Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon says the Pakistan Peoples Party has prioritised its political principles and national interests, expressing support for Pakistan’s armed forces.
KARACHI, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK, October 17, 2026: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has never prioritised the pursuit of power over its political principles, while expressing solidarity with Pakistan’s armed forces.
In a statement on the country’s political situation, Memon said the PPP believed in principled politics and strengthening democracy. He argued that if the party had been primarily interested in securing power, it could have sought federal ministries and joined the government.
Memon also criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), alleging that its approach towards militancy had contributed to the loss of its government and the political difficulties it now faces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the minister, the province’s political challenges should not be blamed on others, and the PTI should take responsibility for its own decisions. He further accused the party of allowing confrontational politics to overshadow public service.
Memon Calls for an Unambiguous Position Against Terrorism
The Sindh minister also commented on Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, saying he was disappointed by statements from a politician with extensive political experience.
Memon noted that Fazlur Rehman’s party had itself suffered from terrorism and expressed the hope that the JUI-F leader would adopt a clear position against terrorism and show solidarity with the families of those killed or affected by attacks.
His remarks placed the debate over political responsibility and counterterrorism at the centre of his criticism of opposition parties.
PPP Expresses Solidarity With Armed Forces
Memon praised Pakistan’s armed forces, describing military personnel as a source of national pride and saying they continued to make sacrifices for the country’s security.
He said political interests should not take precedence over national security or the sacrifices of those killed in service. He also paid tribute to the fallen personnel and expressed support for their families.
The statement reflects the PPP minister’s publicly expressed position on the relationship between political conduct, national security and the armed forces.
The comments and criticism in this report are attributed to Memon; the allegations concerning other political parties have not been independently established here.
