ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has expressed grave concern over the latest findings of United Nations Special Procedures experts, which highlight India’s continued human rights violations in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to the Foreign Office, the UN report issued on November 24, 2025, underscores systematic abuses faced by Kashmiris, including arbitrary arrests and detentions of nearly 2,800 individuals—among them journalists, students, and human rights defenders.
The statement noted that India’s use of draconian laws such as the Public Safety Act (PSA) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) has enabled indefinite detentions. Reports of torture, custodial deaths, incommunicado detention, denial of due process, punitive demolitions, forced evictions, recurring communication blackouts, and suppression of press freedom—including the blocking of 8,000 social media accounts—were described as deeply troubling.
Pakistan said the findings reaffirm its longstanding concerns about state-sponsored persecution of Kashmiri Muslims and discrimination against minorities across India. It called on New Delhi to end coercive measures, release all arbitrarily detained individuals, and halt repressive policies.
The Foreign Office urged India to reverse demographic and legal changes in IIOJK, restore fundamental freedoms, and engage in meaningful dialogue. It reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to a peaceful and just resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
“Pakistan will continue to extend moral, political, and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people in their just struggle against foreign occupation,” the statement concluded.
