PORT OF SPAIN – Web Desk: Pakistan finished Day 2 of the second and final Test against West Indies in a strong position, reaching 266 runs for the loss of two wickets in their first innings, in reply to the hosts’ first-innings total of 344.
Abdullah Shafique’s composed century and Babar Azam’s confident batting guided Pakistan’s recovery. The opening partnership was cautious, with Imam-ul-Haq falling for 14. Young opener Azan Owais played an impressive knock of 55, providing a solid foundation.
Abdullah Shafique and Babar Azam then added an unbroken 168-run partnership for the third wicket. Shafique completed his sixth Test century, while Babar remained unbeaten on 86 at stumps. Pakistan need another 78 runs to level West Indies’ first-innings total.
Earlier, West Indies had scored 344 in their first innings, with Justin Greaves (73) and captain Kraigg Brathwaite (70) leading the charge. Off-spinner Sajid Khan was Pakistan’s best bowler with 4 wickets, while Ubaid Shah, Mohammad Ali, and Ali Usman claimed two each.
